When The Doctor returned to our screens in 2005, he returned with a new face, a whole new look and most importantly, he returned with his trusty and iconic sonic screwdriver. This new sonic screwdriver possessed a radical new design and imprinted itself on the collective consciousness of a whole new generation of viewers.

The main hero prop was custom built by a specialist model company called Aztec and was utilised for many of the closeup scenes featuring the sonic screwdriver. The static props built by Aztec differed subtly from the others that were also built for the show and up until now, has not been faithfully recreated or made available to the public.

Now, for the first time ever, this prop has been painstakingly recreated using access to original materials and reverse engineered original CAD models resulting in a near faithful 1:1 replica of the original Aztec prop that solves the challenging engineering problems presented by the original prop. We've recreated the practical sliding functionality of the original and added sound but apart from that, this is as close as humanly possible to a usable Season 1 prop.

As to be expected from The Celestial Toystore we have used aerospace grade aluminium and nylon throughout and painted it in the original Plastikote crackle paint sealed with baked automotive lacquer. We have also combined fully threaded and strippable assembly with sound and fully CNCed manufacture to bring you the ultimate in collectable metal prop replicas.
