11th/12th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver

There are too many good things to say about this replica to fit them all one review. This is one of the only replicas I own that truly deserves the title replica. It truly is a definitive copy of the series 5 filming props. There is nothing more that could be asked for. Matt Smith even mistook one for a filming prop. When I first opened the case I was surprised by the emitter lens. The intricate swirls in it almost appear as smoke in the sky. When lit up, the lens looks just as cool. As per the filming props, only the tip of the lens lights up via a white LED, which can be seen throughout series 6. As someone who also owns a Rubbertoe, I can confidently say the flicking action is miles ahead the competitors. When flicking the Rubbertoe, the action doesn't feel smooth and I have genuine qualms that I'm going to break the sonic. The tolerances here are all perfect and flicking is as smooth as the Wand Company remote, while remaining somewhat tighter. I no longer see any reason to buy a Rubbertoe. Although the prop was remade for series 8, this version can still be spotted in quite a few episodes. In fact, this version of the prop is the only version seen in series 9. I am a frequenter of the Celestial Toystore, but this is the best work from them I've seen from CT, barring the Sherlock coat. There are no gaps to been seen in the cage, which is definetly an improvement from the Rubbertoe. The red button also includes a very interesting black swirl design. Not only is the green emitter swirled, but the red one is as well. It almost looks like cranberry juice someone has poorly attempted to mix chocolate sauce in. Although I am a fan of the more swirly cores that are seen in series 7 and 8, CT's replicas appear to variate from incredibly swirled to barely swirled. This also seems to be the case with the filming props, so you do get an accurate color matched core either way. Although my core has little swirl, I'm not remotely dissatisfied. This is absolutely the definitive replica of the 11th Doctor’s sonic screwdriver. If you're even slightly considering buying this, fucking do it already.
