First the warts: my sonic got lost in some paperwork snafus and while it took less than a week to get from China to my doorstep, it took almost a month for it to leave China. Second, I thought this was supposed to come with a box... mine didn't.
That last is not a huge problem, though, as this sonic is never going to leave my person. It is substantial, elegant, and a delight to play with. I know, I know... it's a replica, not a toy. You're supposed to stick it on your mantelpiece and maybe only bring it out for a convention or something. Screw that. I'm going to be making my friends desperate to pretend that they aren't with me whilst I pretend that my sonic is the real reason the automatic doors are opening.
All I can compare it to is the plastic toy, with the UV light and pen. I expect any replica is going to beat the toy by being heavier, sturdier, and by not being bloated. The sound is not so loud -- it's almost too quiet -- but in my case, that's preferable, since I intend to fidget with the thing whenever I'm not working, and I don't actually want to annoy anyone. CT reports that the replacement Aztec replica will likely be louder. The emitter head light is much, much brighter, despite being a deeper and truer blue.
So, all in all, an excellent product. You can't have one anymore, so sucks to be you, but at the same time, CT is working on five new replicas, so maybe it doesn't suck so much to be you. My fiancé loves the Matt Smith sonic, even though I hate it, so when CT gets that one working, I will be back here with more of my money.
